sssstolen!

wtf?

my blog uses lots of pictures. I get them from Google Images and from Flickr. I decided I want to start getting them from ffffound! as well, but ffffound! doesn't provide any type of search that I've been able to find.

after I noticed this problem, I also noticed that I often find images and know I'll want to use them in my blog some period of time before I write the post they belong in, and that Google, Flickr, and all existing search options fail at searching subsets, except for del.icio.us, maybe (I don't know because I don't use it much). all existing search options I'm aware of, anyway. I don't want to use del.icio.us because Yahoo! bought them. I just don't trust Yahoo! not to fuck anything up, especially not if they get bought by Microsoft.

anyway, back to the point. I don't want to waste all my hard drive space on images, either, which is what I'm doing now (and all desktop image search options seem to suck also, afaik). some people like filling their hard drives with images. not me.

I created sssstolen! to enable me to nab images off of ffffound!, Flickr, and Google Images, automatically archive them on Amazon S3, and keep a searchable index of their names and descriptions. I'm hoping to add a couple features in the near future, but I'm on this miniapp kick so I'm deploying it today to get my one miniapp for January released.

the features I'm most interested in adding are A) attribution tracking, so I can give people credit for their awesome pics, B) bookmarklets for ffffound!, Flickr, and Google Images, and C) CSS that looks less like ass. support for Microsoft Internet Explorer will not happen ever.

how do I sign up?

you need an Amazon S3 account. next, create a login.

you're fucked. sorry. start a new account, and remember your password this time. I recommend automated password systems like 1password or my own password gem.
